Someday Eddie Vedder and the Cubs will go all the way and it will be magical

Ed's never made his love for the Cubbies a secret. Now he's gone and penned a song especially for them with lyrics that go something like:

We are not fairweather, but foulweather fans
Like brothers in arms, in the suites and the stands
There’s magic in the ivy and the old scoreboard
The same one I stared at as a kid keeping score
In a world full of greed, we could never want more

His unjaded joy for the sport that I love is heartening, and this song makes me happy. Here's a live version; there is talk of him releasing it (a studio version?) on vinyl as a 45 single, and it's currently burning up the radiowaves around Chicago.

STREAM: Someday We'll Go All The Way - Eddie Vedder

(file removed, you can now buy it over here)

Like The Hold Steady's effort to bolster the Twins, or even the slightly less prominent Rockies anthem, Vedder's effort is a noble contribution to my favorite sport. Now can someone rad could just please, please make a song for the Giants that will pull them up by, oh, 12 or 13 games? Thank you.

What's so loveable about the flubs anyway? Here's a team whose fans take perverse pride in packing stadia both in that outdoor toilet called wrigley and across the country, despite the fact that they've done nothing worth celebrating in a century. All I can say is, all the Billy Corgans and Eddie Vedders in the world don't add up to one 2005. True Chicagoans like Barack Obama know that the real baseball and true fans are on the Southside.

White Sox Fans? You fairweather losers. You cheer for the southside when them when the win like 2005. You won the world series, and freaks like you turned your backs on the south side when the lost the following year. We pack the stadiums because we're real fans, we don't care about wins or losses, we care about watching the american past time. Sox fans like you are the people who deserve to be murdered.

"we are not fairweather, but **foulweather** fans"

And I was in the audience for this recording, and as an impartial indians fan, the jackasses sitting a couple rows behind me made me hate the white sox with a burning passion, and it honestly has nothing to do with them being in the same division as the indians

Yes, please help the Giants. My hometown team, man i miss northern cali. they had a tv song when i was a kid that went "sometimes they win, sometimes they loose"

But back to reality

Barrack Obama roots for the White Sox's and so should you!

One can tell very quickly who lives in Chicago.

Keep up the great posts.

Geez, anon 11:32... "Sox fans like you are the people who deserve to be murdered."

Check yourself, man. You're Cubs and Sox fans... not Sunnis and Shia.

Are there more songs from this show available?.. because that is a great sounding recording! Would love to hear more of it.
