You asked: Ray LaMontagne, live & unreleased
The single most requested re-up that I get these days is for some of the older live and unreleased Ray LaMontagne songs. I am happy to finally re-post some fantastic live unreleased stuff from him, in honor of me seeing Ray in Denver next Monday. These are mostly all courtesy of a fantastic girl named Jaimie who is relentless in collecting these, and I am appreciative for the goodness they have bestowed upon my ears.

Someone please help me fin Ray's song "Till the Sun Turns BLack '" ehich was played at end of Last nights November 16,2006 ER. I've entered the song and his name in iTunes and it won't come up and I don't know how to enter Ray as Alternative, Pop, Rock etc, I want to buy this song, like last night and preview and purchase others I like but don't know what Cd it's on and why I can't find it On iTunes. Please help me!! His voice soothes my soul~~~~marci in Ct.
Ray has been commenting at shows how its a Nina Simone cover, not bee gees.
That makes things a little better.
No MICHEAL BOLTON.ahhhhhhh
Marci, maybe you didn't read all the songs on this post you just commented on, but Until The Sun Turns Black is right there with a live version from KEXP. It also appears on his album of the same name, Till The Sun Turns Black.
Yeah nat, I'd more likely cop to Nina Simone than the brothers Gibb, but according to SecondHand Songs, the Gibb brothers wrote it and their single came out 2 years before Nina Simone. For what it's worth.
Thanks for the Ray tunes and all the other music. I only discovered your site a couple of days ago, and already it's my favorite.
Hey Heather that Untitle song (to be) is called "Take Me By Surprise".
side note:
"To Love Somebody" is a Bee Gee's song. He gives credit to it at the Orpheum show. - see my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_BZBoAeZQU
-btw thanks for that Sad and Lonesome Boy song I didn't have it.
"I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees." - Wayne Campbell
aw, wow, thanks heather! i've been looking for that recording of ray singing 'to love somebody', it's amaaaaazing! you'll have to post a review of ray's gig! i can't wait to see him play in january!
can't wait to check this stuff out. just been getting into him lately. really can't wait to check out his bee gees cover. I'll probably use it next week on my radio show. thanks
Heather you're my hero...
What would we do without you and your generosity of spreading the goodness of music and Mr. Lamontagne.
Thank you
One can never get enough Ray. Great post.
Thank you! These reposts are fantastic, I'm always amazed at how you range over such obscure (but delightful) stuff. have you heard the elvis costello version of brilliant disguise?
not to be a beggar, but one thing i have been pining for is the zombies at the bbc to be reposted......is there any way to do that?
I can't help but look at that picture and think I'm looking at bearded Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer.
Heather,
Ray LaMontagne is great. I am not a "folk music" fan generally, but there is something about his music that way transcends what puts me off about most of that genre.
Plus he's from up in Maine where I grew up.
Bruce K.
Hey Bruce K., I think what I like about Ray vs. other musicians in that genre is his soulful passion and wailing. He just lets it loose and doesn't hold back or be aloof.
I'll tell you who I love: Ray LaMontagne, Pearl Jam, and Heather.
the end
thanks for the additional Ray tunes...I am seeing him in December. But does anyone, I mean ANYONE have the cover he does of Crazy? By Gnarls Barkley. It seems to be MIA. Thanks! Huge Fan..

Does anyone know where to find Ray's song "country girl". I used to have it then my computer crashed
illfollowyou, email me
just found your site today and allready is a favorite. I've been listening to Ray's music nonstop since going to his concert on the 27th in Minneapolis. Never knew about any other albums before Trouble and would pay big $$$ for them. anyone help me out? You should have heard his addition to Barfly a lot of soul and could not catch my breath or swallow the lump in my throat.
Love Love Love it! :)
I heard "trouble" on the radio a few years ago on my way to work...it took a couple more months for me to hear the song again and figure out his name...I have been a supporting fan since and have turned MANY friends on to his records...he is truly a gifted artist in every sense of the word!!!
heather thank you. you r an angel
Its a rare occurrence for the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up...but he does that...
How good is he?!....
I saw him in Manchester UK on Feb 2nd 2007...it was an honour...Karen
Months later, there are still folks out there grateful that these tracks are still posted. Thanks.
Thank you so much... for some reason Ray is a fairly new obsession for me right now!

THANKS HEATHER!
I just stumbled across your blog tonight after watching the Austin City show and looking for one of the tracks. I honestly can't tell you when I have ever come across music that i haven't heard before and immediately adopted it so quickly and passionately. I love everything about his music and lyrics and I can't go a day without listening to it. I wasn't aware of all the live versions kicking around and songs I haven't heard. I can't wait for this to download so I can have a listen.
Thanks again for the repost.
p.s. I will be checking your blog on a regular basis now that I have found it.
Cheers,
Adam
