The Faint fasciinate (and you can win the vinyl)
[they brought back the Soul Coughing guy from retirement!]On August 5th, Nebraska dance-punk band The Faint will return with a new self-released album, Fasciinatiion (on their own blank.wav label). They'll be kicking off a tour in support of it, and I'm looking forward to catching them towards the opening end at Denver's Ogden Theatre on Tuesday night, for what is sure to be a rad show.
I've not seen The Faint in concert before but friends who've gone cite the live action as simultaneously a huge amount of fun with perhaps a thread of dark fear running through it (stay out of the daylight!). This is not a bad combination, but hopefully the ratio of fun to fear will be proportionately higher than that time I saw Marilyn Manson in 1995 at now-defunct Edge nightclub in Palo Alto -- still scarred from that one. Anyways . . . I woefully digress.

I've seen them four times before and they were amazing each time. Expect some great visuals and a better-than-the-record version of most songs. Especially "Worked Up So Sexual". You can also expect to see some slam dancing from kids who don't yet know that they're being douche bags.
By the way, I'd like to win the record.

I saw The Faint in Vancouver British Columbia. Although I was with someone who was feeling seriously bummerly and the venue (dicks on dicks) was not the best, this band managed to pump out some serious dance tunes that made me feel compelled to dance.
I'd love the chance to win this vinyl.

i've seen them live in cleveland. had to travel to cleveland (from michigan) to go see them play (with bright eyes), so obviously, all of the conor oberst fan girls were there and wouldn't get out of the way for the rest of us to enjoy the faint's set. but it was amazing. i danced so hard, screamed along to the songs, and was amazed at the live set. and would travel anywhere to see them again in a heartbeat
unfortunately i have never seem them live, but they are on the list, i can only imagine how fun their concerts are. i would love a copy of this vinyl. hope i win!

have never seen them before but I'm heading to Chicago in August for night one of Eddie Vedder and I saw that the Faint will be in town the next night. gonna try and hit that one up. kinda weird that the first time I see the Faint will be in Chicago and I'm from Nebraska...

I have seen The Faint live twice in Omaha. Both times were phenomenal. They have lights and huge screens. My favorite part was when Brit Hume sang "Paranoiattack." Plus I'm seeing them in Des Moines. But I read an interview with Todd from Juice (a Des Moines publication) that they are changing their show format. They think they were providing too much TV and everyone already gets enough of that already. Long time fan of the Faint. I first saw them play after Danse Macabre originally came out. It was a small 250 person venue but it was a sold out, crammed show filled with people elbow to elbow dancing to one of the most energetic bands ever. Even then, the Faint brought their own low-budget lighting set up to add an even more spectacular element to the concert.
Since then, the band has gone on to open for acts like No Doubt and Bright Eyes (which at those shows, half the Faint also played on-stage) and with that their stage set-up has also increase from a simple 6 light system to one of the best lighting/projector arrangements in the music business.
Anyone attending any show by the Faint is in for a treat. I am jealous because this tour so far they don't have a single date in Arizona and with gas prices so high, I can't afford to drive around all crazy for the Faint like I have in past years.
All ticket holders, get ready to dance your butt off. Get a sweat going. Have lots of fun. Maybe avoid the middle of the crowd if you don't want to be swept away at times. Other than that (with only some exception to certain fans of the Faint in Phoenix), most of the fans of the Faint are just as awesome as the bad. So there is nothing to fear. No Marylin Manson apprehension needed.

I love The Faint and I've been lucky enough to see them 5 times and I'll be seeing them 2 more times on this current tour. I heard Danse Macabre in 2002 and I've been hooked on everything they've done ever since.
They get better and better all the time and each show I've seen gets a little more dangerous. The visuals for each song are different on every tour and they add so much to the show.

I've been a fan of the faint since blank wave arcade came out. I'm a huge collector of the faints music, including the norman bailer stuff, and update the faints wikipedia for them. I also just made a remix of one of their new songs "a battle hymn for children" i've been so excited for this new album.

I saw The Faint when they were opened for Bright Eyes and if I had been Conor Oberst, I wouldn't have had the balls to follow them onstage. I was down in front dancing around with teenage Bright Eyes fans and big, burly gay men who had come out in droves to move to the sounds amazingly produced by the frail little indie kids onstage.
The songs sounded amazing, their energy was incredible, and their stage production added to the performance. I have been waiting anxiously for another chance to see them and am happy that it's finally come.

WOW! the faint was easily the best show that ive seen in the past few years... I dont dance. peroid. but i couldnt stop moving for their entire performance. The band shakes their asses off too, it really gets everyone into it! I didnt really know the girl i took that well, and needless to say, after a night of me showing my angular, soverywhite dance moves, we never went out again. that being said, it was the best time i had all year! im jealous you get to see them on this tour! have a blast!
