Ed Vedder's solo jaunt down the West Coast
The Ten Club wasn't lying when they promised an exciting 2008 for members. Just a few weeks after announcing that Pearl Jam will headline Bonnaroo, we members were notified yesterday afternoon that Eddie Vedder will be doing a solo tour down the West Coast in April. The venues are small, the tickets are unfortunately not cheap, and members will have a stab at presale on Monday. A friend of mine is combining the tour with some baseball park visits; the season is right, and dang that sounds like a lovely idea to me.
Liam Finn opens these shows.
EDDIE VEDDER SOLO TOUR
Apr-02 The Centre, Vancouver, BC
Apr-05 Civic Auditorium, Santa Cruz, CA
Apr-07 Zellerbach Theatre, Berkeley, CA
Apr-10 Arlington Theatre, Santa Barbara, CA
Apr-12 Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA
Apr-13 Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA
Apr-15 Spreckels Theater, San Diego, CA
Five special ticket packages per show will be auctioned off for the legal defense fund of the West Memphis Three. On-sale to the general public is Friday through (yes) Ticketmaster.
Bruce Springsteen will also be tracing a somewhat parallel journey to Vedder, notably with his Vancouver show March 31 and the Sacramento show April 4th. Following the reliable old adage that starting a rumor on the internet is obviously likely to yield actual results, maybe there will be some collaboration like these:
No Surrender (with Vedder, Meadowlands 10-13-04) - Bruce Springsteen
Betterman (with Vedder, Meadowlands 10-13-04) - Bruce Springsteen
My Hometown (with Vedder, Chicago 9-26-02) - Bruce Springsteen
For good measure we'll throw these in too:
Growin' Up (Springsteen cover, 7-14-03 New Jersey) - Pearl Jam
Atlantic City (Springsteen cover, 10-01-05, Borgata Casino) - Pearl Jam**
No Surrender (Springsteen cover, 09-30-05, Borgata Casino) - Pearl Jam**
**The encoding on those last two tracks is too low to stream right (Chipmunks!) but if you download them they do sound fine, and that recording No Surrender is one of my all-time favorite covers. If anyone has better quality mp3s, please send em my way.

omg, i'm so glad you posted this - i probably would have missed it otherwise.
Seeing anyone at the civic is worth the $$ because it's such a small venue (saw Beck there a few years ago, AWESOME) so I'm SERIOUSLY excited about this!! yay! ;-)
This might just be the greatest posting ever. Really, it's true. I mean I would pillage Norse hamlets to see Eddie and Bruce perform together (I hope your invoking that old Internet analogy chestnut pays off), but seeing Eddie two days after two days worth of shows from my original musical inspiration would work too. And to have it all happening the same week that my A's are back on the field is pretty damn skippy in its own right.
*Sigh* There are times when it's just great to call Berkeley home. You shouldn't have left Northern California, Heather. You just shouldn't have.
I'm going to be in mexico for all the california dates, so I think a road trip to vancouver might be in the works. Sadly, I haven't been a ten club member in years, so we'll have to wish for some ticketmaster luck.
Do not forget "One Step Up" By Bad Radio. I love that Springsteen cover.
every think of a post on Andy Wood?
I'm on the Internet rumor bandwagon! (See link above.) Rumor, shrumor -- we'll make this thing happen.
Good job Liam Finn, the kiwi boy opening for Eddie Vedder. Awesome!
And yet no love for Seattle?!!! UGH. I'm furious.
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am all over this. I already have tickets for my man Bruce, so now I just have to pick out the right venue for Eddie.
I did my part and posted this FACT on my blog!!
I'm an idiot...how do I download the songs onto my computer?
Thanks.
Gene, try right click, save as?
I had not heard that cover of Atlantic City before. Thanks.
I know you are a big Counting Crows fan as well. They also do a killer cover of this song.
but... what ever happened to keeping ticket prices down for fans? $65 seems a bit unreasonable to me.
I was lucky enough to snag 10C tix to the 1st San Diego show which is on my birthday! :) (Checked TM last night - a 2nd show has been added on the 16th FYI.) Am looking forward to seeing Liam Finn again as well. Saw him open up for some of the Crowded House shows last year and really enjoyed him.
So, so, so sad that I didn't manage to Eddie tix for Los Angeles.
Loved the Springsteen stuff though. Eddie + Springsteen is like a dream come true for me.
