Pearl Jam unleashes their cover of "Love Reign O'er Me" in concert for the first time

Pearl Jam played Copenhagen (wonderful Copenhagen) last night, their first return to Denmark since the tragic deaths of 9 fans during their set at the 2000 Roskilde Festival. By all accounts it was an emotional night yesterday for the fans and the band. Ed gave a small and heartfelt speech near the end of the set "somewhere along the lines [of] all of us walking the road/path of life, and tonight all our personal paths crossed. In other words, he sort of celebrated life by saying that we had to look forward and just follow that path wherever it may take us." (from a fan who was there)

Thanks to Billyblog (Bill's a fellow fan as obsessive as I am), we've got a fresh mp3, just hours old. Ed introduces it as being the first time they've ever played this song live, and that first piano chord always gives me chills.

UPDATE: Video of the Vedder solo pre-set performance of Hunters & Collectors' "Throw Your Arms Around Me," from what looks like about a 2nd row vantage point. The taper is audibly excited by Vedder's choice of songs. GREAT tune.

Fascinating how Pearl Jam still manages to have the best poster art in the world after all these years.

Sometimes I grab the Live On Two Legs cd just to look at the collage of posters.

Wow, looks like a great setlist as well and that is a great audience recording. Heather, any chance of you posting the entire concert since they're not releasing any of the European shows officially? I'd love to hear the whole show and how Ed interacts with the crowd.

I know mb, I love their posters. That one especially is cool - kinda makes me wish I had adopted the poster-collecting hobby. Of all the bands to collect, who better to surround myself with than PJ? But where would I hang em all? It seemed a shame for me to collect something that I had nowhere to properly display....

Someday when I get a huge cool downtown loft with high brick walls, I'll start collecting and make a mini-gallery.

Disregarding all the rest, this one post makes our relationship well worthwhile!

And I have become a poster junky...Although I'm not real fond of this Klausen work. The poster in my profile is my all-time PJ fave.

Definitely gotta love the Ames Bros. posters. I saw some of their t-shirt designs they did in the mall once, but I had a tough time coughing up $35 for one.

I'll be seeing them tomorrow (thursday) and I'm ridiculous excited about that. I doubt they will do this song again though, but I don't care. They could be singing Spears-covers and I will probably still think it to be amazing.

Thanks yet again for the link, Heather. I framed the June 1 poster from East Rutherford even though it wasn't as "hot" as the Klausen from June 3. I snagged the "What Me Worry?" poster from France from 10C, but would kill to have that Hawaii one, of the PJ/U2 combo which is even sweeter.

Hi Heather - One of LA Weekly's guys has been on vacation following Pearl Jam around Europe and has a review of the show up, in case you or your readers are interested:

I put a link in to your site as well, since you have the cool MP3.
