Say hello to a little slice of heaven with Chris Cornell, live in Seattle last night
Oh, man, this would have been so cool to attend.
Chris Cornell (oh he of the mighty pipes, the Soundgarden/Temple Of The Dog/Audioslave legacy) played last night in Seattle at the Fenix Underground, a "private" show for fans and some Microsoft folks (?). 100 tickets were given away to fans through his MySpace for this cozy gig with a killer, killer setlist. Most of my favorite Cornell songs are here in fine form, as well as a handful off the new album, Carry On (out June 5, another collab with Lillywhite, with some guitar work by Gary Lucas - Jeff Buckley cohort).
Yeeeah.
You can stream the whole concert video here.

hey cool thanx
I was reading and unless you were a microsoft employee, the fans of Cornell had a tough time getting their confirmation for the show. Many fans got their confirmation of the tickets half an hour before the show. Next time there should be a little bit better planning.
One of the greatest songs...Hunger Strike-Temple of the Dog-with Eddie Vedder...Unbelievable...
Yes, fantastic song. I say it does sound a little weird in this context with no Eddie but its a nice closer.
Wow, that's an amazing set, thank you so much for that! What's amazing is how much of a thread there is through the set, given that it consists of music from at least three different bands, a Michael Jackson cover, a film theme and all.
Hi Heather,
Great post. I was honestly expecting more from Chris Cornell... It's sad to see that he can't reach anymore the high notes he once was able to. Not only that but he was completely OFF key on those circumstances. It's sad we can't go back in time...
What a treat! Love Chris Cornell. Say Hello 2 Heaven is just a special song. IMHO, you have the best blog out there. Thank you
What a great setlist, I can't believe he performed Temple Of The Dog songs, must have been one hell of an exprience to attend that show. Looking forward to hear the new album.
Yeah ODS, some of those high notes were definitely strained. All those years of hitting them has to take its toll.....back in the day, it was quite amazing. I think some of the new material suits his voice better....
Just when I think it's impossible to get any more music on my ipod...20 more songs, just like that!
Personally, i don't give a shit if Chris has lost a bit of range on his voice...still sounds awesome to me.
thank you x 3
THANKS!!!
Hey, I walk by the Fenix when I walk from work to catch my bus! I do recall seeing some tech guys doing things with lights outside the venue (which I thought was weird - why not inside?) on Tuesday after work. No idea it was for Chris Cornell. Too bad I didn't pass him standing on the sidewalk outside the Fenix.
I was lucky enough to score myself some tickets to the show (low friends in high places) and Cornell still has it. For me it started back in middle school when I was sneaking into SG shows. Here it is years later and he's still one of the greatest of all time.
Nice post.
I am a heterosexual male in my late 20's and I would marry Chris Cornell. His music brings back amazing memories of how music used to be about 10-15 years ago. He is a true legend with unbelievable talent. Of course he is not what he used to be but the sheer fact that he has written some the best songs in the past 15 years on guitar a vocals, makes him my idol. Heather, I would marry you too just for being a Cornell fan
hit me up in Cali sometime....
matt
a friend and i saw chris last night here at the warfield in SF and freakin' loved it.
he played a lot of stuff i haven't heard or thought of in a long time that's got me shuffling through my itunes and cd's. great stuff.
any chance you could pop that zip file back up for a bit. i'd love to grab it as it's very similar to the set he played last night.
thanks,
b.
