Josh Ritter backstage recordings

Josh Ritter has posted two new impromptu mp3 recordings from backstage on the road. Kind of like what Metallica is doing for their new album, with only 6% of the anger.

I am greatly looking forward to seeing Josh Ritter Wednesday after next (Feb 28) in San Francisco. I've heard that his live show is mesmerizing, but I've never had a chance to experience that. Josh is currently on tour solo acoustic through Canada and the West Coast.

Lil' Ole Wine Drinker Me - Josh Ritter & Stephen Kellogg

Thin Blue Flame - Josh Ritter
(just because this is one of the best songs I heard during the entire year of 2005, and deserves to be revisited at every opportunity possible. To say I adore this song is an understatement.)

I saw him perform last month at the Birchmere in the DC area. The live acoustic show was amazing, and different than when he's with the band. Only a couple of songs suffer without backup, and I caught a lot of lyrics that I hadn't hadn't hit me before. He's also ridiculously cute, and quite the charmer. Have fun!

The gig in Chicago is also on the Live Music Archive for download. There's a great Thin Blue Flame with a few new words "we are most of us more cynical than our politicians", and a great new song "The Temptation of Adam", which too has an apocalyptic message.

He came through Indy last weekend and we went. Pretty cool. He's more grizzled than I'd imagined, and was a class act -- stuck around until nearly 1:30 a.m. talking to anyone who wanted to wait in line. We got to him at 1:20...he signed my copy of The Animal Years and I got to tell him some stuff. So that rocked.

i love the new song.
Anyone notice a bit of Ryan Adams in the song?
it really sounds like a cold roses era song.

I first saw Josh open for Loudon Wainwright III a few years ago at a very small-scale summer music festival held every year in Moscow, ID (his hometown). You're talking a crowd of maybe three hundred people. I enjoyed him, but never thought he would, in a few short years, put out an album as fine as "The Animal Years". One of the year's finest. I think we've only heard the beginning of great things from him.

Just saw him in concert (for the second time) over the weekend. LOVE HIM! Question for you: Do you know what cd the song "Since You've Gone" is from? I have Hello Starling so I know it's not on there. If you have the time can you let me know at: ccaplett@yahoo.ca.

Thanks!

According to this site, it's a hidden track off his first album, and the song is actually called "Stuck On You."
