I AM FUEL, YOU ARE FRIENDS

...we've got the means to make amends. I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side. (Pearl Jam, Leash)

"What the funk is up?"

Let's all admit right now that 1990 was an embarassing year for a variety of reasons. Mariah Carey, Bel Biv Devoe, Vanilla Ice, and Whitney Houston: yes, I knew them all. I was 11.

Eddie Vedder took some time in 1990 to perform this rather unfortunate song: (with Bad Radio, Feb 11, 1990)

Thanks for the tip, Chad. You ROCK, you closet Pearl Jam stalker, you.

Wow. That guy, yes, the one rockin' the Mike Patton haircut. He's going to front one of the biggest rock bands of the last 20 years. Yep.

Crazy. Thanks.

Firstly, I find all this foul language rather disturbing - especially in the presence of a lady.

I've been reading this blog for a while now (albeit in silence) and really appreciate the fact that it embraces music of all sorts - of course, it tends to draw fans of pearl jam because of the author's tastes.

Now, personally, I love PJ because I grew up with the sounds of grunge in my ear. It represents a sound which resonated (and still does) with a lot of the troubles we face and we see around us, but just don't have the musical talent to put it into song the way these guys do.It is a personal thing.

Rick, if you don't like PJ, and if you think you are so much wiser than the rest of us for it, the least you can do is tone it down and voice your opinion in a civil fashion.

Eddie Vedder is white trash?! Now really!

rick, yep, i hated to play the censor, but this is not some anonymous web board, it's my personal blog, and I didn't want it to disinegrate into a huge insult fest, there's no love in that!

also, i HAD TO LAUGH: I use gmail and it automatically combs the text of emails and posts relevant links along the right toolbar to keywords it finds in the email. When your comment arrived, this is the link that was on the right:

"in the presence of a lady". that is so lame. cyber-chivalry. what a dumb concept. aren't you just mr. prince charming. do you think you'll get a date? i digress, that was terrible. i am not a big pearl jam fan, but that was terrible. bad radio is a good name for that band. that was definately the worst genre of music in the nineties. white boy grunge-metal-funk. horrible. it was all very bad. ephemereal's favorite kind of music. -dave
