Art Brut

I have been hearing rumbles around in the music world from friends who either love South London band Art Brut or hate them. I finally broke down and purchased a few of their songs off eMusic (cos I've got this 50 free downloads deal that I've got to use up in the next like 4 days - free music! I recommend it). I couldn't handle them in large doses, or forever, but for now it sounds like a cross between The Streets and Blur. A little bit of simplistic, self-effacing, punk-influenced fun.

"Emily Kane" - Art Brut

"Bang Bang Rock and Roll" - Art Brut

Art Brut is a pile of nonsense. It is , at its best, proof that cynicism (sp?) gets you nowhere... except into the hearts and minds of other cynical, cancerous fucks who really can't tell you what they actually LIKE because all they can do is see things for their "inherent irony" and not for anything genuine. And if this band did that on purpose I will kiss their asses...

Which will not happen.

Rock is dead until somebody beats the Rolling Stones.

PS - I am a redneck.

Good for more than one listen. I am even now picturing the video, which has to be a good thing. Off to listen to it again now.

Reminded me a bit of Kingmaker, who I haven't heard in a million years.

Kingmaker, wow. That was a while back.

Art Brut are great, and at their best live. Thanks to the magnificent quippery of mainman Eddie Argos, it's a bit like watching stand-up with tunes.

Having said that, God knows what the second album'll be like. Rubbish, if their new Blame It on the Trains song is anything to go by.

Kingmaker - indeed a while back. Anyone got any idea where one can get Kingmaker mp3's?
