Etta James
Happy birthday Ms. Etta James, born today in 1938. While best known for the delicate string serenade and huge vocals of "At Last," I prefer her more raucous bluesy side, of which this song is a perfect example:
"I Just Wanna Make Love To You" - Etta James
Oh, you have GOT to love the lyrics, "All I want to do is wash your clothes . . . All I wanna do is make your bread, just to make sure you're well fed. I don't want you sad and blue, I just wanna make love to you, oooooo." Every man's domestic dream?
Although that is a whole intimidating lot o' woman to love.

Man, that growl in Etta's voice is great stuff.
I just found you today, and haven't been so excited about discovering a blog since finding Songs:Ilinois more than a year ago. Great stuff! I'm especially glad to see the Italian music; I lived in the Veneto and Tuscany in the early '80s, so my tastes ran to Francesco de Gregori and Pino Daniele. I'm also a fan of Ryan Adams and anything on the folky singer-songwriter side. And it's always great to see more female music bloggers. Thanks, and keep it up!
I heard the song 2 years ago and wondered who sang it. I was surfing blogspot and there it was the answer. I love etta james.
